Halifax distance themselves from MP motion

Halifax have distanced themselves from the news yesterday that nine MP’s are pushing for their inclusion inSuper League.

A statement said: “Halifax RLFCwish to distance themselves from Thursday’s Early Day Motion put forward in the House of Commons by nine Labour MPs. The motion (number 1387) asked the House to urge the RFL to review its current franchise policy and allow Halifax to enterSuper Leaguefor the beginning of the 2010 season.

“The club had no knowledge of this motion until several members of the media contacted the club on Thursday afternoon seeking a response. The club is disappointed with the actions of the MPs, which has caused considerable embarrassment to the club.

“Halifax RLFCremain committed to securing a place inSuper Leaguefor 2012, and will continue to execute its business plan in the right and proper manner to achieve that target, adhering to the RFL’s rules and procedures as accepted by all member clubs.”
