Kyle Flanagan shuts down Super League rumours

Canterbury Bulldogs half-back Kyle Flanagan has shut down rumours linking him to Super League.

The 23-year-old declared his intentions to remain with the海军研究实验室club beyond his current contract, which expires next season.

Flanagan struggled to cement a starting spot with the Bulldogs earlier this season. However, he has found his form and more game time under new head coach Mick Potterfollowing the resignation of Trent Barrett.

He has made 15 appearances so far in 2022, scoring one try. He has made a further seven try assists and four line break assists.

Flanagan had been linked to a move to Hull in recent months,with the departure of Josh Reynolds. However, the NRL man has stated that he wants to remain with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

“The first time I saw that on social media, I sort of shut that stuff down,” Flanagan said during a press conference regarding the rumours linking him to Super League.

“That was the first I’d heard of it. I’m on contract next year with the Bulldogs. If we keep winning footy games, I don’t have to listen to that sort of stuff.”

He continued: “I live in Cronulla and I love the Bulldogs.They gave me an opportunity.

“I like to think I have turned things around and things are going forward for the club.

“As I said, if we keep winning and combinations keep building, this footy team is only going to get better.

“I’m loving my time here and I definitely want to extend here.”

Flanagan, son of former player and coach Shane, has made 57 appearances in total in the NRL. He began his career with the Cronulla Sharks, making his debut in 2018 under the coaching of his father.

He went on to join Sydney Roosters for a single season in 2020 before joining Canterbury Bulldogs on a three-year deal.
