Tom Holroyd receives 10-match ban for punching

Leeds forward Tom Holroyd has received a 10-match ban by an independent disciplinary tribunal.

Holroyd, 21, was referred by the Match Review Panel on aGrade F punching chargefollowing his dismissal against Newcastle Thunder. He was playing for Championship side Bradford Bulls on dual-registration.

The England Knights forward is yet to make an appearance for the Rhinos this year, but will now be sidelined until August.

Holroyd signed a new four-year contract with the Headingley Stadium side in December 2021. It will take his contract until at least the end of 2025.

Thunder’s Jake Shorrocks was also sent off during the same match. The former Wigan half-back will miss five matches after the tribunal downgraded the grading of his offence from F to E.

Workington城镇的Ciaran走路er has also received a four-match suspension. He was charged with a Grade D Dangerous Contact against Leigh and was referred to tribunal.

Super League suspensions

Wigan’s Morgan Smithiesreceived a four-match banfollowing the club’s Challenge Cup victory over Huddersfield.

Smithies, 21, had been charged for two separate incidents during the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The forward received aGrade C High Tackle charge and a Grade B High Tackle charge. Both incidents equalled two-match bans, taking his total ban to four games.

Smithies will miss games against Castleford, Salford, Toulouse and Wakefield.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants captain Luke Yates also received a Grade B High Tackle. The forward was handed a two-match penalty notice.

He will miss the away trip to Catalans Dragons and the home tie against Leeds Rhinos in Super League.

  1. Why is it that Morgan Smithies can run around swinging arms into people’s heads without a word being said ,except the commentators praising his “wholehearted “approach,yet the second James Bentley looks at someone the wrong way the cards are out faster than a wild west gunslinger.
    Two attacks to the head resulting in a four game ban that everyone in the stadium could see except the “referee”,could have had a big bearing on the game.
