Rohan Smith still not interested in Super League table despite season-high fifth place

Leeds head coach Rohan Smith says he still has no interest in the Super League table despite the club’s season-high fifth spot.

Instead, the 41-year-old has labelled every game like a final, with just three games left of the regular season.

The Rhinos secured their fifth consecutive win following atense 24-18 victory over Warrington at Headingley Stadium. It means the side moved up to fifth spot, their highest place in the season so far, overtaking Castleford.

Leedsscored tries through Ash Handley, Zane Tetevano, Morgan Gannon and Rhyse Martin, who also kicked four goals.

Since taking over, Smith has insisted that he has not been watching the table, and that theme continues.

Rohan Smith: ‘Every game is like a final to me’

“The table is not of any interest to me,” Smith said. “Every game is like a final to me.

“I thought we defended our line extremely well for the whole game. It was an extremely disjointed performance in the second half but defence got us the victory today.

“We can improve but it’s time to reflect and enjoy the defensive performance and that roar at full-time gives me goose bumps thinking about it.

“We are going to have to win different ways and it was pleasing to be able to defend our way to a win.

“I thought Rhyse Martin’s first-half carries were good – they couldn’t tackle him – but everyone needed to turn up to turn them away.”
